Kashmir Tour ---I

Who wouldn't like to visit Kashmir, the paradise on Earth! Those who have are really fortunate and those who haven't should go on aspiring till they reach there. Now what about them who are born there and continue living there! They are really the choicest of God's creation. But alas! things are not going on well there for the last a few centuries and the worst of it for the last about two decades. This paradise on Earth is taken hostage by some self centered individuals and organisations to fulfil their personal nefarious designs and in spite of numerous steps taken for the improvement of the situation the conditions refuse to normalise. Thus this paradise seems occasionally converted to hell because of the volatile situation there. The common man mostly poor and unsuspected citizens bear the brunt. The day to day work of the common man suffers and the opportunist is basking in the glory of his success. Whenever the situation seems to normalize and the common man begins to heave a sigh of relief and the opportunist seems defeated; he goes again on prowl to seek ways and means to exploit especially the religious sentiment of the people and take the situation to the same past position. This condition goes on repeating time and again in the valley as the opportunist has pampered certain soft targets to exploit among the simple people of Kashmir.................. (to be continued)

  2. i happened to visit Kashmir in July 2008, after a gap of 19 yrs. On landing at Srinagar, I immediately proceeded to Tulmula for having darshan of RAGNA Mata. I could feel the blessing and serenity of the temple which refreshed my memories of olden days. On return to Srinagar, I came via Hazratbal shrine and entered the premises with the permission of local security/ Moulvis. The local Moulvi gave his blessings which reminded me of college days at Hazratbal.
Next day, after finishing my office job at Quazigund/Pampore I wished to visit my native village. Though I was scared to visit that place, but the local acquittance and our family friend at village assured protection. It was an amazing experience on seeing the warmth of local Muslim people known to our family.
One Muslim lady, known to our mother felt sad on knowing about her demise. The Muslim lady disappeared for some time and brought a handful of roses. She instructed me to offer the roses at the altar of our mother. This scene touched everybody present there, wherein one old Muslim family friend immediately recited the "Fatiha" for the departed soul. I carried the rose petals along with me to be placed at the photo frame of our mother.
The warm reception and affection shown by the local people shall be inscribed in my memories for a long time.

  3. Dear Kaka Ji
A very nice comment and full of emotion too.I hope you read frther posts and make a definite opinion about or ex neighbours. They have always been exploited emotionally by foreign elements and have acted thus. We've lived cordially with them all our lives but their masters accross boarder and some locals made them act like brutes. It's not only now but Kashmir history is full of such intances and 1990 was the last blow.
