Kashmir Tulips in Bloom

Kashmir Tulips, you're again in bloom. Why not! it's the spring, the loveliest season of the year in Kashmir. You probably do not know that some of your admirers cannot enjoy your fresh colours. They’re out of the bounds of Kashmir for about two decades now. You and lots of other flowers that bloom in the early spring especially Yemberzal, Virkem and bredmushek are also ignorant of their absence. The reason is not far to seek. They left with a hope to return soon. They didn’t land in any strangers land but in some other part of their own land. Their new found neighbours treated them well; helped them in their adversity but they couldn’t forget their divine mother Kashmir. The nostalgia of Kashmir, its scenes and scenery, mountains and valleys, water and snow dogged them persistently. Do you know they tried their best to bring in Kashmir in their vicinities. They made the replicas of their various temples, gods and goddesses that they worshipped there and named their ghettos and colonies by the same Kashmir gods and goddesses. They also tried to celebrate with the same gaiety many of their favourite Kashmir festivals but still they couldn’t get Kashmir closer to them. The nourishing cool breeze coming down from the majestic snow covered peaks, the shade of Chinars and Villows, the blessings of Mata Kshir-Bhawani and Sharika could not be approached. They even tried to plant some Kashmir flowers and bushes in their small gardens and fed them with cold water frequently but these got withered by the hot air of the plains. They had even tried their best to forget Kashmir by trying to get accustomed to the foods and other habits of the plains and speaking the language of their new found neighbours but your remembrances reverberated forcefully and today was the turn of your blossom that took the lead.

  2. You can take out a Kashmiri out of Kashmir;
But you cannot take out Kashmir out of a Kashmiri.
Everybody has love for his motherland but for us since detachement is forced, greater are the remberances.

  3. What a heart rending piece of art. I can only imagine how much heart would have bled in penning down above lines - which I trust is the smallest one - quite unusual to other latest posts in the blog. Every Kashmiri, I am sure, that has been forced out of their sweet homeland would second above emotions - at least I do!

What stops you to come back to your Mouj Kasheer. I think Kashmir is incomplete without KPs. We think all the notions about insecurity and threats in Kashmir, is a malacious propoganda. We need people like you Bhat Saab in Kashmir. So think about it and return to your roots. And tulips will blossom again.....

  5. Thanks, Kashmir centre. Kashmir is really incomplete without KPs. You've spoken the heart of the majority in Kashmir. You yourself know the hurdle. The anti-Indian tirade created by a few local elements with active support of foregn enemy forces for their personal ends has has put us on the defensive. We wish the better time to come soon and we return to our beloved Kashmir.

  6. Being anti - India is probably in our genes. And why should that be a hurdle for your return. We have been living together and fighting Afghans, Dogras and others together. We can get our Kasheer liberated from Indian rule together. Even if you dont want to join the struggle, you are still a Kashmiri. Our struggle is for Kasheer and not for any religion. We will welcome you with open arms back to Kasheer. Kasheer belongs to you and you can come back, cheshman peth.

  7. Not at all!! India is our motherland. We can't join you in such a struggle. The common Kashmiri isn't anti-India. He loves India and her people. He does not want to seperate for her liberty, democracy and high morality. His voice is stifled for fear of gun. But he isn't coward. Don't you see he comes out and votes fearlessly to send his genuine representatives to the Indian Parliament and Kashmir assembly. India is a great country and Kashmir and her people are beloved of us all. Just have patience as we've. The day is not far when these dark clouds would disappear from the skies of our Kasheer and we'll go back running into her lap.

  8. Their is no gun in Kashmir now. Sir, My friends voted in recent elections but they are as much anti - India as everyone else. They participate in Freedom marches and protest marches enthusiastically. I personally dont, I only write. Their participation in elections was not for India but purely for local and other issues. India is not our motherland. Our motherland is Kashmir and Kashmir is not India. Some KPs consider India as their motherland because of religious bias. They believe India being a majority Hindu state is best for them thus proving the two nations theory of Jinnah correct. But we do not believe in that theory. We want Kashmir to be Independent and Democratic. And no need to mention secular anywhere. Kashmiris are secular culturally. We can be anything but we cant be intolerant towards other religions. Secularism is in our blood. A real secularism I mean.
Why I dont like the word Secular is because it reminds a minority that it is living at the mercy of the secular constitution, otherwise the country belongs to majority only. And majority thinks secularism means appeasment of minority community. So this term is haunting both.
So Bhat Saab, you can ask you heart but ask honestly.
Will Kashmiris living in Kashmir ever consider themselves as Indians. Will they ever say Jai Hind from their heart.
Answer is never. Never on this earth.
Elections or no Elections, Kashmiris want freedom. Freedom from India.
I am sorry if I have hurt your sensibilities. I am also sorry to have intruded into your blog and am engaging you in a discussion. I know this discussion must be hurtful for you as you lost your motherland as a result of this discussion.
I strongly believe, KPs will come back and you will be one among them. Insha - Alaah.
    P. S: Please bear with my bad English and spell mistakes, Professor Saab. I wrote all this on my mobile phone. Thanks

  9. I do not support your view. It's only a few youth in Kashmir who would conform to your theory. We've lived a long peaceful life in Kashmir. I'm not speaking out of any religious bias. I've seen Kashmiris speaking 'Jai-Hind' aloud and celebrating all national days with love and dedication. 'Saare Jahan Se Achaa -----' was sung in every school as a morning prayer. It was not out of any duress but only out of love. Kashmiris are the real secular not by word only but by deed too. We used to celebrate all religious festivals together, Ieed, Deewali, Hairath. Urs Dastgeer Sahib was a common festival of all. There is no hatered for India even now. Kashmiris are doing flourishing bussiness all over India. They're comfortable everywhere. This is just a recent development trigerred by some self centered and rejected politicians and actively supported by Pak and her allies who just want to settle their personal scores with India. They are making certain raw Kashmir youth scapegoats. This is not a popular movement or an uprising as masses do not approve it. Their voice is simply stilled by the fear of gun. They speak out only when urgency demands. Independent Kashmir is an impossible proposition. It's just a nightmarish probability quite alarming for all concerned. Kindly give a deep thought to my comment and then proceed further as the discussion is growing longer inappropriate for this space. URZOO te DUR-KUTH

  11. I can hardly stop myself from commenting on Kashmir Center's inhibitions - how & why, although contrary to the context of this post. I appreciate Kashmir Center's out of heart emotions towards India, at least he has spoken the truth at the back of every KM. KPs never left Kashmir because of KMs threat, but whatever time they could stay back it was only because of the assurances given by KM brethern. Then we realised that in order to stay further, we had to follow 2 things - love Pakistan or face the music and follow Islamic directions. If your struggle is for Kashmir & not any religion, why love Pakistan? I remember during the turbulence days I was in Kashmir, there used to be slogans India Murdabad & Pakistan Zindabad! Why Pakistan Zindabad? When India used to win or loose a match against Pakistan, stones were hurled at our home - why? During turbulence days 2 new shops were opened near our house & started selling beef. Our KM brethren shared with us their displeasure but they did not have enough guts to stand and get them closed. So there is a basic difference of opinion between KPs & KMs - KMs love Pakistan & KPs hate Pakistan. If at once all KMs come in public marches - like they do against India - and shout slogans against Pakistan & come together to seal borders & stop intruders from Pakistan into Kashmir, KPs will defintely think of coming back to Kashmir (whether controlled by India or Independent). Why KMs are anti-India is not because they hate India (otherwise you should stop all trade with India & stop traveling to India in protest), but they love Pakistan & Pakistan hates India, hence they hate India. Why KMs love Pakistan is that it is an Islamic country, hence the division is ultimately based on religion. My dear friend, the day all KMs start hating Pakistan, respect all religions & let people of all religions live respectfully without any other country’s intrusion based on religion or politics, you need not ask KPs to return – they will return on their own.
